AIMS OF THE 2009 PEPTIDE MEETING
Advances in peptide, and related, research continue to occurring at an ever increasing pace, in a wide range of fields and scientific disciplines. With the sequencing of the human and other genomes now complete, we are at a particularly exciting time as the impacts of genomics, proteomics, and bioinformatics start to drive modern drug discovery.
Following on from the very successful 7th Australian meeting, which was held in Cairns jointly with both the 4th International Peptide Symposium and the 2nd Asia-Pacific Peptide Symposium, we are delighted to announce that the 8th Australian Peptide Conferences will be held at Couran Cove, South Stradbroke Island, Queensland from 11th - 16th October, 2009. The meeting has the general theme "Peptides - Tools, Targets & Therapeutics". The scientific program will encompass cutting areas of peptide-related research including recent advances in areas from synthetic procedures, the discovery of peptides with novel biological properties, methods for their functional and structural analysis, new approaches to drug delivery, peptide mimetics, peptide-based therapeutics and much more.
This meeting will bring together delegates from the top local and international academic and medical research institutions as well as the bio-pharmaceutical and instrumentation industries to discuss the development of novel pharmaceuticals based on peptides, peptidomimetics and emerging technologies. In particular the Australian Peptide Conferences have always had a reputation for strong interaction between the academic and commercial participants, frequently leading to exciting collaborations.
There are a number of topics at this meeting which we feel will be extremely relevant to your organization. Scientific sessions will be tailored around:
- Antimicrobial Peptides
- Bioimaging
- Bioinformatics
- Drug Delivery
- Emerging technologies
- Glycopeptides
- Nanofabrication and peptide engineering
- New peptide ligands
- Peptide drugs
- Peptide Immunology
- Peptide Pharmacology
- Peptide post translational processing
- peptide structure and function
- Peptides and biology: Probing biological systems
- Peptides and intracellular signalling
- Peptides as research tools
- Protein and peptide synthesis
- Protein-Peptide Interactions
- Proteomics and Peptidomics
- Regenerative medicine
- Venoms to drugs
PARTICIPANTS
The previous seven Australian conferences have had strong scientific programs which have attracted major support from a broad cross section of the national and international research community. The meeting, which uses a Gordon Conference style format, has rapidly built an excellent international scientific reputation, and attracts over 200 participants which comprise senior researchers from Universities, Medical Research Institutions, with strong support from the bio-pharmaceutical and biotech industries and leading instrumentation manufacturers.
WHERE DOES YOUR COMPANY AND PRODUCTS FIT INTO THE MEETING PHILOSOPHY?
Your range of sophisticated instruments, purification media/products products or separation/filtration products for protein and peptide research and proteomics applications is particularly pertinent to the theme of our meeting "Peptides - Tools, Targets & Therapeutics"
We feel that this meeting would provide an important and unique opportunity for your organisation, and in particular your local and international representatives, to present your companies specific expertise and products in both formal (lectures, posters, advertising material, trade directory etc.) and informal (coffee /lunch etc.) settings to all the other conference delegates. This will allow key contacts to be made, and provides all parties the opportunity to pursue possible solutions to their specific scientific needs. It is a requirement of the conference that all scientific delegates present data in some format which has typically resulted in the attendance by mainly senior scientists and from both Australia and overseas. In this context, we also encourage our sponsors to present their latest and greatest results at the meeting!
A RANGE OF SPONSORSHIP AND ADVERTISING RIGHTS ARE BEING OFFERED TO COMPANIES FINANCIALLY SUPPORTING THE MEETING
This meeting we will be returning to the well proven formula that we have applied to previous island meetings.
Sponsorship levels will be:
| Principal Sponsor | From AUD $10,000 |
| Major Sponsor | From AUD $5,000 - $10,000 |
| Sponsor | From AUD $2,500 - $5000 |
| Associate | From AUD $1000 - $2500 |

We are very much aware that each company has its own philosophy regarding how best to maximise its profile at a meeting such as ours, and that the options are many. We have therefore developed the policy of tailoring specific options to suit individual companies depending on the level of sponsorship they wish to commit to achieve mutual benefit for all parties. In addition we encourage company delegates to support the meeting scientifically by submitting suitable abstracts for inclusion in the oral or poster sessions. We have always found that such scientific involvement is an excellent way to promote the company scientific platform. Listed below are some of the sponsorship opportunities that are available.
- Naming rights to Conference Dinner
- Naming rights to Opening Mixer
- Naming rights to Plenary Sessions
- Naming rights to Poster Sessions
- Sponsorship of Invited Speakers
- Sponsorship of Student Bursaries
- Sponsorship of Conference Sunhats and Sunscreen
- Company logo and a link on the conference web site to their own homepage.
- Acknowledgement of support in the Proceedings
- Trade Directory listing (half page description of your company, products and contact details) in the Proceedings
- A full page advertisement in the book of abstracts (must be provided art ready and electronically to the conference organizers) or a satchel insert.
In conclusion we believe this conference will be a highlight of the Australian and International Peptide and Protein Scientific Calendar and will be of significant benefit to all involved. We believe that your participation will provide an excellent return for the investment made and the meeting will provide the perfect forum for cross discipline discussions with key decision makers and field leaders, a crucial aspect of our never ending endeavours to find solutions to difficult scientific problems, our ultimate goal being the translation of scientific discovery through to therapeutics.
