Cyclic peptides have remarkable stability against chemical or proteolytic degradation and are of much interest as stable bioactive molecules in the pharmaceutical industry. New families of ribosomally synthesized cyclic peptides have been discovered in bacteria, plants and animals over the last decade. The aim of this conference is to bring together researchers working in the field of gene-encoded circular proteins to exchange ideas, decipher common mechanisms of processing and cyclisation, and ponder the future for potential pharmaceutical and agricultural applications of these fascinating molecules.
Delegates will meet on (an almost circular) island on the Great Barrier Reef where there will be a chance to interact in a relaxed environment. I have great pleasure in welcoming you to this 1st international conference on circular proteins.
