Professor Phil Lowry Professor of Physiology and Biochemistry at the University of Reading. Career long interest in the multiplicity of biological activities generated from polypeptide precursors, initially POMC and CRF of neuroendocrine origin but latterly moved into the more difficult field of placental neuropeptides where a bizarre post translational modification, phosphocholination (formerly used by parasites to avoid host immune-surveillance), has been discovered on neurokinin B (and other placentally derived neuropeptides).
