Chris Elvin

CSIRO Livestock Industries, Australia

Dr. Chris Elvin Chris is currently a Principal Research Scientist and Project Leader with CSIRO Livestock Industries. He works in a CMHT (CSIRO Molecular and Health Technologies) Theme (Biomedical Materials and Regenerative Medicine) where he is Project Leader in the Photoactivated Biopolymers group. This involves coordinating the research activities of a large team to investigate the development of novel biomedical materials.

Dr Elvin's current research into the development of novel photoactivated surgical tissue sealants and other biomaterials has evolved over the past 5 years branching from his unique discovery concerning in vitro fabrication of crosslinked recombinant resilin, the most efficient bioelastomer known. This novel work was published in Nature in 2005. This project attracted funding from the ESA Nanotechnology initiative (CSIRO), the ARC and DEST under the Oznano2Life programme.
